Rose McGowan

 

Rosa Arianna "Rose" McGowan (born on September 5, 1973) is an American actress and activist. McGowan's debut in film was the comedy Encino Man (1992), however she was recognized for her performance in The Doom Generation (1995) which earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination as Best Debut Performance. Her breakthrough role was in the horror film Scream in the year 1996. She was then the lead in the films Jawbreaker (1999) as well as Devil in the Flesh (2000). In the early 2000s, McGowan became known to television audiences for her role in the role of Paige Matthews in The WB supernatural drama series Charmed (2001-2006). Quentin Tarantino directed her double-feature film Grindhouse (2006) which was the film in which she was awarded the Saturn Award for Best Actress and the Scream Award to Best Scream Queen. She was featured in the action-thriller series Chosen (2014) as well as released her debut studio album, Planet 9, in 2018. The album was followed by a new album in 2020. McGowan was honored by Time as the Silence Breakers, the magazine’s Person of the Year in the year 2017. She made a statement against sexual assault and harassment and in particular the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse cases. Brave is her autobiography. Citizen Rose was her documentary series. Both were released in 2018.
